The work was in progress for over 4 months as a study of human physical character traits that appears in patterns, through daily observations in the ballet, in Meyhold training and at the local metrostation. I noticed that each movement is divided into small moments the follows or were prior, but each pause is also a moment that indicates the next movement where, or on the other hand, the land of our thoughts is not divided into moments or is it? At the same time as work progressed, the process became my coercion and escapism, in which all my ideas were projected into the film cameras square format.
”How can I fit the squares that is created in my camera and be projected into this room , where the installation should be?”
The question was ringing in my head, at first. Then I realized that if imagine my head and thoughts like a square.
Then the thoughts followed. We are expected to see our world and time as a circular matter.
The first step sets off to the next and the next image loads the next.
A movement initiates the next, a thought creates the next. But when are we aware of when we takes the step and when we assumes the idea and were does the thought ends?
We automatic assume that we know what is in the next picture`s place, just as our minds automatic initiates the next step.
I decided to use the analogue photographs medium, the format’s 6x6. It is the only format I can find in photographic materials that resembles the likeness of a brain, set to a 2-dimensional scale, where thoughts are reduced to squares while the eyes are trying to create a framed picture of reality, plus the square have achieved a format of representation that we somehow rely on. We know a painting has 4 sides, so goes for our living room etc.
The light thread of thoughts flowing through our head sometimes feels like a dance, where we do not pay attention to the steps and we are led by our thoughts and memory.
